Attention Homeland, California residents! Join the team at StaxUP Storage – Homeland on October, 27 2017 for our 5th annual Community Halloween Event!
“When I was promoted to manager, I was told we had events that we had to do for the community every year and, and I really enjoy Halloween, so I chose to do something for Halloween for our community,” said Alisha Carey, StaxUP Storage Homeland Manager. “Where we’re at is not very neighborhood-friendly for kids to go trick or treating door-to-door. Everything is kind of more spread out. To me this is a way for parents to take their kids out and have fun without the worry of going door to door and having to stress over searching candy and making sure that there’s nothing in their candy that’s bad, anything like that.”
The original Community Halloween Event started off very small in 2012. There were 6 games, a small haunted house and a cake walk.
“It started off very small. I actually was very low on occupancy and I had a whole section of storage units on the outside of an indoor building that were not rented,” Alisha said. “What I decided to do was make a small haunted house on the inside of the hallway of the building and on the exterior units we were able to, each one of them that were vacant, we ended up decorating and then we could close it and lock it until the actual event. It gave us time to prepare over a period of time. Then, on the day of the event, we just had to open up all the storage units on the outside and each one had a different game.”
This year, the haunted house is bigger and better than ever! We’re going to have more than a dozen games including the Spider Fling Dart Board, Toilet Paper Ghost Bowling and much more. When you’re finished stocking up on candy, but before you eat too much, be sure to jump around in the bounce house! Tacos will be provided for $1.50 a piece by Mr. Taco and there will be a photo booth.
“It’s a lot of fun. It’s a lot of work, haha, but, at the end of the night, when you see all the kids dressed up and see all the families having a good time, it really makes everything that you’ve done so worth it and it’s so rewarding to be able to provide that for our community,” Alisha said.
Those interested in volunteering or donating can call or come into the facility to sign up.
Come on down and have a great night of spooky fun with StaxUP Storage. Last year more than 80 people showed up, so be sure to dress up and join the fun!
